Sandeep Dhopate

A photographer whose base of collaboration was Maihar and Madina Bhavan, worked with local collaborators such as Dr. Kailash Jain, a close family friend of Baba Alauddin Khan, and Shri Lakshman Pandey, a sitar player and Baba Alauddin Khan’s only living local disciple. The vision of this collaboration was to understand and bring back to life people’s fading interest via photographs and paintings. Rajesh Ali Khan also collaborated on this project, which created a series of interpretation of Ragas through Dhopate’s photographs. This series focused on the philosophy behind Indian classical music, the personality of Baba Alauddin Khan, and the history of Maihar.
